SATURDAY 31.01.15 - 03.02.15 = PUERTO VIEJO (COSTA RICA)

I left Bocas del Toro by boat + car and got to the boarder of Costa Rica a couple of hours later. To get into Costa Rica you need to cross an OLD bridge. NEVER have I seen a boardercrossing like this, and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. The bridge was full of holes and I would say dangerous! Everyone told me that I needed proof of leaving Costa Rica (bus-ticket, flight-ticket) before you are allowed to enter. But since I'm so lucky no one at the boarder asked me about this.
On the bus I started talking to this sweet girl, and after a while it turned out she is from Narvik in Norway! Haha. It's very rare to meet Norwegians backpacking, so I was very surprised. Grete and I both checked in to "Kaya's Place", almost in the middle of Puerto Viejo. The hotel was almost ON the beach, and I got upgraded to a private room with my very own bathroom. You should have seen the big smile on my face! It feels wonderful to have a private room after sharing with all sorts of weird people.
On the same hotel we met Sofia from Finland and we rented bikes and went to a nice beach 40 minutes outside the citycentre. The nature was beautiful and everything was perfect until Sofia's wheel went flat. Lucky us found a fantastic guy who fixed it so we could get back to town.
Grete and I went to the Jaguar Rescue Center one day for a guided tour.
We saw different kinds of animals including frogs, sloths, snakes and monkeys.
The black beach next to our hostel.
No partypeople at my hostel, so I went to La Ruka hostel where my friend Andrew that I met in Colon/Panama works. We played drinking games and had a lot of fun. Went out to Lazy Mon after and had a few drinks. Several people in this picture got robbed on the beach by a man with a knife. SO glad I said no to that walk on the beach. Robbery is not unusual here, so I take as little as possible with me when going partying. I also make sure to walk together with others.
The chef/bartender at Kaya's Place was the best!
Not many people make you eggs and bacon at 3 am and serve you free drinks!
